FAQ

‣WHAT SHOULD I DO WITH MY KIDS WHEN I ARRIVE?

If you decide to attend our Bible classes, there will be classes for your children when you arrive. Ask any member where your child’s age group is meeting and they will happily direct you to the right place. You can then choose a class for yourself.

During the worship hour, children remain in the auditorium. At our welcome desk, we offer activity sheets for children to work on during worship. In addition, we have a room for parents to take their children if they are not cooperating. This room has audio and offers a full window view of the auditorium so you can still be part of worship. We also offer a room for nursing mothers.

‣WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?

You will see people wearing suits and others wearing jeans. We just desire
for God to be honored.

‣WHAT SHOULD I BRING?

You are not expected to bring anything. However, to enhance your experience, we suggest you bring a Bible. If you don’t have one, we can help provide one for you.

‣WHERE SHOULD I SIT?

There are no reserved seats, so feel free to sit wherever you are most comfortable.

‣IF I’M NEW, CAN I TAKE THE LORD’S SUPPER?

We don’t authorize who can or cannot participate. The Lord’s Supper is for
every Christian. There is no need to feel embarrassed if you choose not to
participate.

‣WHY ARE THERE NO INSTRUMENTS DURING THE SINGING?

It is our belief that God alone deserves our worship and that He alone decides how we should worship Him. While God did command worship with instruments in the Old Covenant (along with animal sacrifice, tithing, and the burning of incense), He has given no such command in the New Covenant. Since we live under the New Covenant, we simply sing and make melody in our hearts, following the example of the apostles and of the first century Church (Ephesians 5:19; Hebrews 13:15).

‣WHAT DOES “CHURCH OF CHRIST” MEAN?

While that is the name on our sign and website, it’s more of a description than a title. “Church” is not a place you go or a thing you do, it’s God’s family. We could just as easily call ourselves “the church of Jesus,” or “Christ’s church.” In fact, one of the names for the church in the first century was “the Way,” and any of these names would be acceptable (Romans 16:16; Acts 9:2; 24:14)! We chose “church of Christ” because of its history in the Restoration Movement, a time when many people were returning to the simple Christianity that Jesus established for us.

‣WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO “PLACE MEMBERSHIP”?

To place membership you must be a member of the church of Christ.
Placing membership means that you would like to identify yourself with the
local church (i.e. West Broward) and place yourself under oversight of the
elders. In addition, you are indicating that you would like to use your
abilities and talents to help serve its members, the community and reach
the world. Let us know if this is something you are interested doing.
